Day 13

Scripture: Romans 5:1 — “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Clip: Jesus walks on water and saves Peter

We have been justified; we have peace with God. But we still live in the storm. Like Peter, we take our eyes off Jesus and fixate on the wind and waves—our circumstances, our fears, our inadequacies. And we sink. The good news is that our standing in peace is not dependent on our feeling of peace. When Peter sank, Jesus didn’t revoke his status; He reached out His hand. Our peace is held secure by His grip, not ours.

Lord Jesus, I have peace with God because of You, but I rarely feel the peace of God. I am in the storm, and I am sinking. My faith is failing. Take my eyes off the wind and fix them on You. And when I falter, Lord, catch me. Be the security my wavering heart cannot be.

If there is any brokenness in your relationship with God (neglect, guilt, fear), confess it today. Receive His forgiveness and peace.

From the Catechism (CCC):
“We were once far off but have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” (CCC 795)

From YOUCAT:
Through faith in Christ, our alienation is overcome and we enter communion with God; this peace is the foundation of Christian life.” (YOUCAT 237)
