Day 16

Scripture: Luke 1:47 — “And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.”

Clip: Miracle of the wine

Mary’s “Magnificat” was not a one-time song; it was a posture of life. At Cana, she sees a social catastrophe unfolding—the shame of running out of wine. Her spirit “rejoices in God her Savior” not by panicking, but by turning to Him with radical trust. Her instruction, “Do whatever he tells you,” is the secret to joy. Joy is found in the space between identifying a need and trusting Jesus with the outcome, even when His instructions make no sense.

Lord, my spirit is anxious, not rejoicing. I see the “wine” running out in my life—my patience, my resources, my hope. Teach me Mary’s joy. Help me to simply bring the emptiness to You and trust. Give me the quiet, confident courage to “do whatever You tell me,” and to wait for Your glory.

Write a short “Magnificat” of your own: five things you rejoice in God for today.

From the Catechism (CCC):
“Mary’s prayer magnifies the Lord; it exalts him above all.” (CCC 2678)

From YOUCAT:
“Mary responds with faith and joy; she is the first disciple, bearing the Word within her.” (YOUCAT 259)
