Day 24
Scripture: John 13:14–15 — “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.”
Clip: The good shepherd
Reflection:
Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd… I lay down my life for the sheep.” This is the ultimate “foot-washing.” It’s a love that is gritty, sacrificial, and protective. It’s a love that serves by dying. The shepherd’s love isn’t just gentle guidance; it’s a fierce protectiveness that stands between the sheep and the wolf. This is the love we are called to—not a neat, comfortable affection, but a love that serves, protects, and is willing to cost us everything.
Prayer:
Good Shepherd, You did not shrink from the dirt of my feet or the price of my soul. Your love is more fierce than I am comfortable with. Give me a shepherd’s heart. Help me to love others not just with words, but with gritty, protective, sacrificial service.
Practice:
Perform one quiet act of service today — without recognition — as a gift of love to Jesus.
From CCC:
“Jesus gave us the new commandment to love one another as He has loved us.” (CCC 1823)From YOUCAT:
“Love proves itself in deeds. Every genuine encounter with Christ sends us to serve others.” (YOUCAT 282)
