Day 12

Scripture: Philippians 4:6‑7 — “Do not be anxious about anything … and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Clip: Peter forgives Matthew

Anxiety and unforgiveness are deeply linked. Peter’s heart was “guarded,” but by bitterness, not peace. He was agitated and stuck in the past. Peace was impossible as long as he held onto his righteous anger. The “peace of God” is not a magic shield; it’s the consequence of bringing our requests and our resentments to God. When Peter finally, painfully, lets go, then the peace that passes all understanding can stand guard.

God of peace, I am anxious, and I know my anxiety is rooted in unforgiveness. I am holding onto a debt, and it is robbing my peace. I bring this person, this situation, to You. I choose to release it. Guard my heart and my mind from the returning anger. Let Your peace be my fortress.

When anxiety arises today, pause and mentally hand it to Jesus: “I give this to You.” Then return to something tangible you can act on (your next step).

From the Catechism (CCC):
“The gift of peace is an expression of the communion of the persons of the Trinity … through Christ the Church becomes a sign and instrument of peace for the world.” (CCC 2306)

From YOUCAT:
“God’s peace is stronger than human fears; it guards our hearts beyond all comprehension.” (YOUCAT 235)
