Day 14
Scripture: James 3:18 — “Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.”
Clip: Miracle of the fish
Reflection:
Peacemaking isn’t just about resolving conflict; it’s about sowing abundance into situations of lack and despair. The disciples were full of strife, failure, and exhaustion (“We’ve worked all night and caught nothing”). Jesus’s miracle was an act of “sowing in peace.” It shattered their cynicism and replaced their scarcity-driven competition with overwhelming abundance.
Prayer:
Lord, I am tired and have “caught nothing.” My efforts feel futile and I am frustrated with those around me. Sow Your peace into my failure. Give me a harvest of righteousness, an abundance I could not create, so that my awe of You overwhelms my frustration. Make me a sower of Your peaceful abundance.
Practice:
Reach out to someone with whom you have tension or distance. Offer a gesture of peace — a word, apology, listening ear, kindness.
From the Catechism (CCC):
“The Church is sent out to proclaim peace: ‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.’” (CCC 2308)From YOUCAT:
“Peacemakers imitate Christ; they bring healing and reconciliation into communities.” (YOUCAT 239)
