Day 11
Scripture: Colossians 3:15 — “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body.”
Clip: The olive pressed metaphor
Reflection:
We want peace to be a gentle calm. But the peace of Christ rules. It is an umpire. In the olive press of Gethsemane, Jesus’s heart was under unbearable pressure. Peace did not remove the pressure; it ruled His will. “Not my will, but yours.” True peace is not the absence of the press; it is the oil of submission that flows from it. It is the conscious decision to let God’s will be the final word, even when it is terrifying.
Prayer:
Father, I am in the press. I feel crushed by anxiety and circumstance. I do not want this cup. Let the peace of Christ rule in my heart. Give me the strength to say, “Not my will, but Yours.” Let what is produced in me not be bitterness, but the pure oil of trust.
Practice:
Write down one area in which your heart feels divided or conflicted. Pray: “Lord, I invite Your peace here. Let Your Spirit rule.” Then surrender it to Him.
From the Catechism (CCC):
“The peace of Christ that is set as a rule in our hearts is not a purely human achievement.” (CCC 2305)
From YOUCAT:
“Peace … is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, a gift to be nurtured.” (YOUCAT 233)
