Day 6

Scripture: Psalm 130:5 — “I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope.”

Clip: The sons of thunder are born

Our hope is not in our own temperament, our zeal, or our ability to be “good.” James and John were ambitious, fiery, and judgmental. If hope depended on them, it would fail. But Jesus speaks a new word over them. He re-names them, not for who they are, but for the passionate, world-changing force He will make them. Our hope is anchored in His word over us, which is more powerful than our failures or our fiery, broken personalities.

Lord, I wait for You, but I bring all my volatility and ambition, my “thunder.” I put my hope in Your word over me. Rename me. See not just my flaws, but the fire You can use. Let my hope be anchored not in my ability to change, but in Your power to transform me.

Choose a short verse or promise you cling to. Repeat it through the day when anxiety or uncertainty arises.

From the Catechism (CCC):
“Hope is expressed in the petitions of the Lord’s Prayer; we entrust our future to the one who is faithful.” (CCC 1819)

From YOUCAT:
Hope is the anchor of our soul, firm and secure.” (YOUCAT 478)
